About the CPS

The Centre for Performance Science (CPS) promotes collaborative research and teaching among musicians and scientists at the Royal College of Music, London.
Ongoing activities fall into the following areas:
- Applied performance psychology and physiology
- Musicians' health and wellbeing
- Musical development, education, and expertise
Founded in 2000, the CPS is the first centre of its kind in a European conservatoire. Its position within a vibrant musical environment and focus on applied research distinguish it from university-based centres with overlapping interests. For further information, navigate via the right-hand menu or email cps@rcm.ac.uk.
The CPS convenes the biennial International Symposium on Performance Science (ISPS), which brings together artists and scientists for an interdisciplinary exchange on performance.
