Rosie Perkins (née Burt)

Rosie Perkins is a Research Associate in the CPS, where she is project coordinator of Rhythm for Life and researches and teaches widely across music education and psychology. Following her BMus and MA degrees at the University of Sheffield, Rosie completed her PhD at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, in 2011. Her research on the learning cultures of conservatoires won the British Federation of Women Graduates Elen Wynne Vanstone Scholarship in 2010, awarded for academic excellence in doctoral studies.
Rosie's current research interests include musicians' career development, musicians' wellbeing and identity, the learning cultures of higher music education, and the role of music-making in enhancing wellbeing. Rosie sits as a commissioner to the International Society of Music Education’s Commission for the Education of the Professional Musician, is a member of the Dutch research group Lifelong Learning in Music and the Arts, and regularly presents her research at international conferences.
